Eliminate doubt, aid justice with

the eyeWitness to Atrocities app

In a world of deep fakes, editing and misinformation, many photos and videos of atrocities will not lead to justice because it can be difficult for courts of law to verify and accept them as evidence.

Initiated by the International Bar Association (IBA), eyeWitness supports human rights defenders in high-risk locations to capture verifiable photos and videos of international atrocity crimes and use them as evidence.

  1. CAPTURE: eyeWitness to Atrocities camera app

Captures reliable footage that cannot be edited, and comes with security features, including encryption (Android 6.0+ only).

  1. PROTECT: Secure footage storage

Ensures footage is protected and cannot be tampered with (protects chain of custody).

  1. SEEK JUSTICE: Links to accountability mechanisms

After uploading footage to eyeWitness, you can download and share a copy of your footage. Meanwhile, eyeWitness catalogues, submits footage, and drafts reports to relevant courts and investigative bodies.

Hundreds of human rights defenders around the world in locations such as Palestine, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Nigeria, Senegal, The Gambia, and Ukraine have successfully used the eyeWitness to Atrocities app to capture photos and videos that investigators, judges, and the media can trust.
